Summer is here! If you are currently lounging on a sun chair on a balcony overlooking the ocean, good for you. If not, I have got a few recommendations on how to spend your time wisely.
I am most excited about The Tony Awards this June, held on the 11th in NYC at the Radio City Music Hall. This season has proved to be pretty extraordinary; with 13 new musicals, 10 new plays and incredibly well-received revivals seen on The Great White Way. If you’ve been following any of my other “Colour” posts, you would already have heard about the new musical Dear Evan Hansen (that everyone else is also talking about). Well, here are some other shows worthy of your time.
I had the great privilege of seeing The Great Comet on Broadway, which was one of the MOST amazing theatrical experiences I have ever been through. Though I had the great pleasure of witnessing Denée Benton (now Tony-nominated for her role of Natasha in The Great Comet), Phillipa Soo (who originated the role before the show moved to Broadway, and who left to join Hamilton) is my hero and here she is slaying the most beautiful song in this spectacular soundtrack.
The genius that is Tim Minchin, who wrote the musical Matilda, is back on Broadway with his new show Groundhog Day (awarded Best Musical at the Olivier’s and Tony-nominated for the same title award) has penned a beautiful score. Here he is singing “Seeing You”; the final song on the soundtrack.
And here is the very talented Joshua Colley singing a track from A Bronx Tale; the musical adaption based off the play that inspired the famous film starring De Niro and Palminteri. The entire soundtrack is worth a listen – music penned by the great Alan Menken.
As I am writing this, I am still awaiting the release of numerous soundtracks to the musicals of this Broadway season that will be available through June.
- Amélie – 9th June 2017

Here’s some non-showtunes music I’ve been listening to.
These sisters are finally back with new music and it’s great
I have no words…
This film is so special. I was completely enthralled through every second of the film; the cinematography is spectacular (Tom Ford directed it), score beautifully paired, and acting banging! Definitely worth 2 hours of your time.
That’s all for June! Have an amazing summer!
